Eight teams would launch at 7:00AM on the Rappahannock for the fourth Virginia Catfish Nation Tournament of 2008. This would be a target weight tournament. 5 fish limit with a target weight of 56lbs. The temperature was in the low 30’s and a brisk wind at launch time. Some teams would go up river towards Fredericksburg, and others would go south under the 301 bridge. Water temperatures were between 53 and 55 degrees. There was a lot of gizzard and hickory shad along with a few herring. 1st Place- James Fields & Robert Fenter with 5 fish total of 57lbs & Big Fish of 46.8 lbs. They would win $220.00 for 1st place & $160.00 for Big Fish. 2nd Place- Richard Mills & Bryan Tilson with 3 fish total of 53.0 lbs. They would win $100.00 3rd Place- Kenny Rand, Charles Lee, Dylan Simonds & Chad Lee Jr with a 5 fish weight of 26.8 lbs. 4th Place- Paul & Janet Williamson with 5 fish weight of 24.0 lbs. 5th Place- Jeff Fink Sr, Jeff Fink Jr & Oran Shea 9.2 lbs. 6th Place- Ken McElroy & Robert Geiger 5.8 lbs. 7th Place- Jerry Musselman & Tony Howard 0.0 lbs 7th Place- Bob Branish & Brian Myers 0.0 lbs Overall 25 fish were brought to the scales for a total weight of 175.80 lbs with Big Fish of 46.8 & 33.6 lbs. |
